The Academy provides WAMITAB accredited enforcement training to the enviro-crime enforcement profession to develop a common and consistent enforcement approach across England. The Academy will also allow for recognition of professional standards provided by enforcement officers by ensuring training is relevant and the knowledge and skills acquired can be applied immediately making an impact on the work of the officers.
Delegates are steered though the process of environmental enforcement, phases of enforcement, roles and responsibilities, conflict management, environmental legislation and its application in practice, witness statement skills, investigations to include interviews under caution, the appeals process and preparing evidence to prosecute offenders. The highlight of the course is a real life case (ideally held within a courtroom environment setting) where delegates are tasked with the role of playing a witness and are cross-examined by barristers to gain experience of giving oral evidence in court as well as acting as the jury to determine the outcome of the trial.
The Enforcement Academy is delivered by our legal expert, an experienced and practicing solicitor with a strong background in environmental legislation and enforcement.

“Realistic mock court trial going through a very meaty case. The prosecution, defence and judge were very convincing! Made some of us squirm on the witness stand”
