Flying the Flag - we reveal the UK's best parks
As Love Parks Week is in full swing, with hundreds round the country sharing why they love their local park, we are excited to announce this year's Green Flag Award winners.

The Green Flag Award the quality mark of a well-managed, clean and safe park. Seeing a green flag flying overhead, you'll know you are visiting one of the very best parks in the world. In total this year 1,797 parks, cemeteries, universities, museums, hospitals and shopping centres have met the tough criteria demanded by the Award.

Among this year’s new entries are the community garden at London’s Tate Modern and the grounds of the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich. Also raising the Green Flag for the first time this year is Milton Keynes which, as it celebrates its 50th anniversary, is celebrating a Green Flag Award at the Milton Keynes linear parks.

Keep Britain Tidy Chief Executive Allison Ogden-Newton said: “Research shows that parks are a vital and valued resource in communities across the UK and we are delighted that so many of them are meeting the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.

“But we cannot be complacent. We know that budgets are being squeezed in local authorities across the country and we must be vigilant to ensure that everyone, where ever they live, has access to the very best parks and green spaces.”

Awards are being presented at ceremonies this week in Hull, Derby, Reading and Watford.

Congratulations to all the winning sites, from everyone at Keep Britain Tidy.
